Company Gardens is a large public park and botanical garden set in the heart of Cape Town, home to a rose garden, Japanese garden, fish pond and aviary. Company Gardens is the oldest garden in the country. It has its origins in Jan van Riebeeck’s vegetable garden, which he grew to feed the original colony as early as 1652, but a little closer to the coast.
Porteau Cove is located on the Howe Sound fjord, 38 km north of Vancouver on the Sea-to-Sky Highway, 20 km south of Squamish, 8.5 km south of Britannia Beach. Other nearby communities include Brackendale and Lions Bay. The park is 50 hectares in size, and offers picnicing, camping, swimming, windsurfing, and a boat launch. Paronella Park is a tourist attraction located in Queensland, Australia, 120 kms south of Cairns. The Park was built in the 1930s by José Paronella, a Spanish immigrant. He built facilities, including tennis courts and a cinema and a ballroom, to provide entertainment for the public. In 2009 the park completed a restoration of the plant, and now runs entirely off hydro-electric power.
Vigeland Sculpture Park covers 80 acres (320,000 m2) and features 212 bronze and granite sculptures all designed by Gustav Vigeland. In 1940 the Bridge was the first part of the Sculpture Park to be opened to the public. 58 of the park’s sculptures reside along the Bridge, a 100 metre (328 ft) long, 15 metre (49 ft) wide connection between the Main Gate and the Fountain.
