Kannur, also known as Cannanore, is a city in Kannur district in the Indian state of Kerala. This is the administrative headquarters of the District of Kannur. During British rule in India, Kannur was known by its Portuguese name Cannanore. This is the largest city of North Malabar region. Kannur Municipality was established in 1867 and is one of the oldest municipalities in Kerala.

Kerala Kalamandalam, lately renamed as Kalamandalam Deemed University of Art and Culture, is a major centre for learning Indian performing arts. It is situated in the village of Cheruthuruthy in Thrissur District on the banks of the Bharathapuzha river. The institution, now a deemed university, was founded in 1930 by poet Vallathol Narayana Menon and Manakkulam Mukunda Raja.

Pulincunnoo is an island village in Alleppey district in the Indian state of Kerala. Pulincunnoo is located in the Kuttanad taluk and region of Alleppey District. The Periyar Wildlife sanctuary is spread across 300 sq. miles, of which 139 sq. miles is thick evergreen forest. The Wild Life Sanctuary was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. The splendid artificial lake formed by the Mullaiperiyar Dam across the Periyar River adds to the charm of the park. The greatest attraction of Periyar are the herds of wild elephants.

Bekal Fort is the largest fort in the state of Kerala, India, spreading over 40 acres (160,000 m2). An important features of this fort are the water-tank with its flight of steps, the tunnel opening towards the south, the magazine for keeping ammunition and the broad and wide steps leading to the Observation Tower which is a rarity.
