About the location (from here):
The centuries-old Grimsel Hospice is located in the midst of a bleak and rocky landscape, on the turquoise waters of an artificial lake. After comprehensive renovations, the former defiant miners’ abode was transformed into an extremely elegant hotel – a place made for aesthetes and lovers of nature. Boasts a panoramic lounge, a fireplace lounge, bar, restaurant, seductive wine cellar and cosy rooms that include every comfort. This hospice on the Piemont-Burgund trade route was mentioned in documents dating back to 1142. Rebuilt in 1932 between two dams after the flooding of the former hospice. The first electrically heated hotel in Europe. 1930′s furnishings by Horgen Glarus. The building style of the time is evidenced by the stone pine and tower rooms. The large lovingly-maintained wine cellar was established because of the traders who passed by the inn.
