The Bridge of Remembrance stands in Christchurch city centre and spans the Avon River. Built in the 1920s as a memorial to those soldiers from Canterbury who lost their lives in World War I, the Bridge of Remembrance is a striking, elegant stone structure. Famous throughout Christchurch, Canterbury, the South Island and the whole of New Zealand, many of these Christchurch landmarks and Christchurch monuments are over 100 years old and are now major tourist attractions in their own right.
