Green Sergeant’s Covered Bridge – Stockton, New Jersey

Even though we documented the Van Sandt Covered Bridge in Bucks county, Pennsylvania earlier, it was this covered bridge (in Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu) that actually set us in search of finding both these bridge locations. It just turned out that we ‘discovered’ the Van Sandt one earlier than this one and so we decided to document it. The silhoutte shot of Kamal walking out of a bridge was one of the few enduring images from the Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyadu movies and needless to say, it increased out curiosity to find the exact location where it was shot. We knew that a majority of the filming for the movie was done in and around New York. So, that was the starting point for our search and just like how we have discovered many of these tough locations before, we were able to zero in on the exact location.
About the location (from Wiki):
Green Sergeant’s Covered Bridge is a wooden covered bridge in Stockton, New Jersey over the Wickecheoke Creek near the border between the Hunterdon Plateau and Amwell Valley. As the last covered bridge in the state of New Jersey, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The bridge was first constructed in 1872, but after being damaged in 1960, it was dismantled in order for it to be replaced with a modern bridge. In 1961, due to public outcry, the bridge was rebuilt from the original materials.
