The Fernhills Palace – Ooty
(Image copyrighted to Arvind Ram. All rights reserved.)
The Niligiris aka Ooty in Tamil Nadu, during the 1980s and the early 90s, had been the de facto choice of filming location for directors from South India, when it came to scouting for outdoor locations in general and/or locations where duet songs can be picturized. This Fernhills Palace joins the long list of locations that we have already documented in the Nilgiris area. This palace which has since been converted into a hotel in Ooty would frequently be used as the residence of one of the lead actors.
About the location (from Wiki):
Fernhill Palace was the erstwhile summer residence of the Maharaja of Mysore. The first Fernhills bungalow was built in 1844 as a private residence in the hill station Ooty in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The palace resembles a Swiss Chalet. Its carved wooden bargeboards and ornamental cast iron give it that characteristic appearance. The palace grounds accentuate the alpine look of the place with its manicured gardens, firs and cedars. There is an interesting church like indoor badminton court on the grounds.
The Palace is spread out over 50 acres of green lawns, stylized gardens and dense woods with spectacular views of terraced tea gardens and lush verdant valleys.

Hi Jayasri,
We are not sure about that as most of the scenes supposed to have happened in Prakash Raj’s house have been shot in a house in Moonar. So, we were just wondering if you could throw more light on your suggestion like hat makes you think that scene was shot in Ferhill Palace.
