Tamirabarani River Bridge – Ambasumudram

Another location that we have been to in person and is situated in one of Shankar’s favorite filming area- the town of Ambasamudram in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu. Many scenes of his popular movies (Gentleman, Mudhalvan & Anniyan) have been shot in and around the town of Ambasamudram. This bridge spanning across the beautiful river of Tamirabarani, is actually abandoned and in pretty dilapidated condition as a newer bridge has been built right next to this one. The locals said that after the shooting was over, the filming crew made sure that all the painting that was done & which made the bridge look so pretty in the song are defaced, so that nobody else would be able to use it in future. This could have been any bridge in any small town in Tamil Nadu but why would someone come here to film this short sequence (barely 30 seconds long) is something only Shankar can answer.
