Fort Totten Park – New York

Anyone finding out the movie and its sequence by merely looking at this picture should be a much bigger movie buff than what we are. For the sake of others, this location is where few scenes from the Kamal Haasan starrer ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyadu’ were filmed. The way we found this out was by itself an interesting story. We knew that almost all of the scenes in the movie featuring the US were shot in New York City and its surrounding areas. So, that was the starting point. Surprisingly, among all the cities that we have come across in our quest for filming locations, New York City has the maximum number of websites that document the filming locations used in movies. So, one of the websites had a pretty exhaustive Google maps feature with pins on the various locations. Since we kind of new that this location was closer to a waterfront, we looked for such locations in the map and we were soon ‘rewarded’ for our hard work.
About the location:
Fort Totten is a former U.S. Army installation near Bayside, Queens in Queens County, New York. While the U.S. Army Reserve continues to maintain a presence at the fort, the property is now owned by the City of New York. Much of the fort has become a public park and is open for tours by the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. It is accessible by the Cross Island Parkway and Brooklyn-Queens Greenway. The Fort Totten Visitor’s Center has been refurbished and houses a museum with exhibits about the history of Fort Totten.

I was reminded of Vettayadu Vilayadu immediately after seeing the picture. But I was reminded of 'Uyirile en Uyirile' song than the scene you guys mentioned

I was wondering where you were reminded of the Uyirile song until I saw the video AFTER reading your comment. Yes, you were right. The last few frames of the Uyirile song that were shot somewhere in the US does remind one of this location. That location by itself should be somewhere near this Fort Totten Park.
