Uyirin Uyire, the song, was not just popular for the melodious tune of Harris Jeyaraj, it was also much talked about for the location where the song was filmed at. Needless to say, that song was on our radar to find out where exactly they shot it. It was kind of known to everybody that some portions of the song were shot in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. We took off from there and in no time found out this church and the boiler pipes that are actually located in a island called Ross Island in the Andaman Nicobar Islands. The dancers draped in white clothes (like a dead corpse) went well with the abandoned church where the song was filmed.

About the location:
Ross Island was the Administrative Headquarters for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, before an earthquake rocked it in 1941. The headquarters were then shifted to Port Blair. One can see remnants of an opulent past in the ruins of the church, swimming pool and the chief commissioner’s residence with its huge gardens and grand ballrooms. There is also a cemetery and a small museum managed by the Indian Navy. The museum has on display a collection of old records. The Ross Island is about 2 km east of Port Blair and can be reached by a short boat ride from Phoenix Bay Jetty. The island is controlled by the Indian navy, which requires every visitor to sign in on entering.

Movies shot at this location:
