One of the unintentionally adventurous advantages of working on this site and coming up with locations where movies were shot is the way in which we found out some of these locations. Serendipity has been the theme on many of those occasions. Totally unexpected ways in which we find out the location of a particular scene or song sequence that we have long been trying to find out. This location is one such. Every time, we watched the ‘Snehidhane’ song from Alaipaayudhe, we used to wonder where is this exquisite location that is being shown in the song.

And not too long after that, we got the answer to the question. While we were browsing through the Flickr photo stream of a friend of ours, we landed on this picture above. Our minds immediately recalled that the temple is nothing but the same location that comes in the Snehidhane song and thus the find got added to our never-ending & ever-growing list of such purely coincidental discoveries. Talk about having fun on the job.

A historical temple town located on the banks of the Narmada River, Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh is steeped in history. Maheshwar is built on the site of the ancient city of Mahesvari, and was the capital of king Kartavirya Arjuna, who is mentioned in the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata. Maheshwar was known as Mahissati (Mahishamati in Sanskrit) in ancient times and was the capital of Southern Avanti. The real meaning of the word Maheshwar stands for home of lord Mahesh, which presents this temple city’s close connection with the lord Shiva.
