Alright, this has to be our most exciting & innovative find so far. The Surya – Sameera Reddy romance was easily our most favorite part of the otherwise biographical & too-length Vaaranam Aayiram. Though there was a touch of eccentricity in the way Surya manages to get a visa and goes all the way to Berkeley to meet her, we loved the way it was all put together by Gautham Menon. This scene where he meets her for the first time in Berkeley was a beautiful moment where she gets totally suprised on seeing him. So, we decided that we will find out the location of the house in front of which they meet. There were 2 clues in the frame which helped us lead to the actual location where that movie was shot. The first clue was the door number – 2307 and the second clue was the name of the fraternity that was carved on the wooden door – SIGMA PHI. Knowing that the movie was shot in Berkeley and with the mighty Google to our aid, we got the name of the Sigma Phi fraternity house in Berkeley. And then you search for the same in Flickr. Lo & behold, you get the pictures that you were searching for.

The ‘movies shot at the location’ section for this location is moot since there is only this 1 scene from vaaranama Aayiram that has been shot here. We also think that portions of the Adiye Kolludhey song, that show the lead pair in the backyard of the house, were also shot in the same location. But we will need to have somebody from the unit to confirm the same and until the same, we do not intend on adding that to the ‘movies shot at this location’ section of the post.
