Taj Mahal – Agra

Well, the place needs no introduction to both us Indians and non-Indians, alike. Whenever the need is to portray romance in movies arises, it is only natural that the Taj is the first location spot which comes to the mind of our directors. You can’t really blame them or stereotype them, given the history that goes behind the monument, which is one of the 7 man-made wonders of the world.
Our first memories of the Taj comes from the ‘Pani vizhum iravu’ song from that timeless classic Mouna Ragam, as the master film make Mani Rathnam aptures the monument in all its glory. This is one of those locations where if the directors get creative enough, they can show the monument in an entirely new & never-before-seen angle no matter how many times the monument has been portrayed on the silver screen before
About the location (from Wiki):
The Taj Mahal was built by the Moghul Emperor Shah Jahan as a tribute to his 3rd wife Mumtaz Mahal. He loved his wife so much that when she died he decided the only way to show off his love to her is to build a monument that will stand the test of time. It took 22 years to complete the monument. It would be no exaggeration to say that the Taj Mahal is the most popular tourist destination in India, with as many as 4 million people visiting the structure every year.
