This is one of our personal favorites inside Tamil Nadu, when it comes to shooting spot locations. At the peak of the season and when in full flow, the Hogenkkal Falls is second to none. It has the rare combination of majesty, power & beauty, all rolled into one. Given the proximity to Kodambakkam, it comes as no surprise that our directors have exploited this location to the hilt.

We are only aware of three instances where this falls has been seen on the big screen. Though some scenes from the Chinna Chinna aasai song of Roja was shot here, it is the NadhiyE NadhiyE song from Rhythm that portrays the speciality of this place the best. The gushing waters amidst that rain along with Rahman’s wonderful song makes that song & the location unforgettable.

About the location:
Hogenakkal Falls is a waterfall in South India on the Cauvery River. It is located in the Dharmapuri district of  Tamil Nadu, about 180 km from Bangalore. Given our fascination and endless love affair with Niagara, this falls is also called the Niagara Falls of India, though the fact that this falls too, like Niagara, is known more for its width & volume of water, rather than the height, which reaches a maximum of 66 feet (20 m). The ride on the circular boat (called as parisal in Tamil) through the falls is a major attraction and is a must-do activity if you are visiting this place.
