This location essentially signifies the reason why this web site came into being in the first place. This location, is one of the earliest, that drove people’s curiosity towards searching for movie shooting location spots.
The Guna Caves is located very close to Pillar Rock, one of the most popular attractions of Kodaikanal. But after the movie was released, the caves tourists started thronging the place in droves and within no time became even more popular than Pillar Rock itself .In fact, after the movie was released, the place that was originally called the Devil’s Kitchen itself became known as Guna caves and that’s how it has been known ever since.
We at wherewasitshot.com have in fact been to this very location and stood at the same place where Kamal places his right foot on the rock & says ‘Manidhar unarndhu kolla idhu manidha kaadhal alla’. When we went there during the late 90s, access to the cave was not resricted. Pretty much anyone can get into it. But getting into the cave is actually not an easy task and definitely not for the elderly or the kids. A mist-step here or a slip there can prove fatal. Only as we navigated through the treacherous rocks into the very place where the shooting occured, we realized the amount of risk and effort that the shooting crew should have gone through while shooting at the location.
